Basketball Recap: King City Piles Up the Points Against Pajaro Valley

King City fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took their contest on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 49-18 win over the Pajaro Valley Grizzlies. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 38-35 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leading King City to victory were Mikayla Mclane and Amity Hearne. Mclane posted six points along with ten rebounds and five steals, while Hearne had six points and 15 boards. Those five steals gave Mclane a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Crystal Paramo, who put up eight points and three steals.

King City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in nine consecutive matches.

King City has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.8 points per game. As for Pajaro Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

King City will venture away from home to face off against Greenfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pajaro Valley, they will host Palma at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Palma has four straight victories, Pajaro Valley has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
