Softball Recap: Doherty Comes Up Short

Doherty had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-10 to make it five. They lost 16-3 to the Rampart Rams. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 14-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

As for Rampart, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-7. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For Rampart's part, Addison Jensen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Jensen was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Izzy Alvarado was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in October of 2024. Victoria Kendall also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Coincidentally, Doherty and Rampart will both be playing Fountain-Fort Carson the next time they take the field. The Spartans will host the Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Rams will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
