Soccer Game Preview: Calvary Chapel vs. Avalon

Calvary Chapel and Avalon are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but likely not for long. The Calvary Chapel Grizzlies will host the Avalon Lancers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Calvary Chapel's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Calvary Chapel's offense. They came up short against Capistrano Valley Christian on Tuesday, falling 7-0.

Meanwhile, Avalon hadn't done well against Providence recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way back in December of 2024. Avalon's defense stepped up to hand Providence a 1-0 shutout.

Avalon's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5-1. As for Calvary Chapel, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3-2.

Calvary Chapel beat Avalon by a goal in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 2-1. Does Calvary Chapel have another victory up their sleeve, or will Avalon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
