Ontario Christian skates past Rancho Christian with ease

The Ontario Christian Knights waltzed into their contest Thursday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Rancho Christian 87-50 at home. Ontario Christian might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won seven matchups by 37 points or more this season.

Ontario Christian found their leader in underclassman Kaleena Smith, who scored 37 points along with eight assists and seven steals. That makes it 18 consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Ontario Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Amanda Ajobiewe, who scored 12 points.

Rancho Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julia Wilson, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. Hailey Whitman was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Rancho Christian were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Ontario Christian's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Rancho Christian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ontario Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Linfield Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Linfield Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 879th, while Ontario Christian is ranked 11th). Rancho Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Paloma Valley at 3:45 p.m. on January 12th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Ashlee Medrano and Wilson.
