Baseball Game Preview: Brunswick Dragons vs. Lewiston Blue Devils

Brunswick hasn't had much luck against Lewiston recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Dragons will head out on the road to face off against the Blue Devils at 11:00 a.m. Brunswick will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

On Monday, Brunswick came up short against Messalonskee and fell 10-7.

Duncan Brown and Sam Mullen stepped up to the plate in a big way. Brown went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Mullen went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Brunswick is 2-1 when Brown posts two or more runs, but 2-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Purnel Amaez, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Lewiston came up short against Hampden on Saturday, falling 14-1. The Blue Devils haven't had much luck with the Broncos recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Lewiston saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cam Giambra, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Giambra has hit this season.

Brunswick's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Lewiston, their loss dropped their record down to 0-14.

Brunswick's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Dragons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lewiston, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Brunswick continue to outrun the ball?

Brunswick couldn't quite finish off Lewiston in their previous matchup back in June of 2025 and fell 2-0. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
