Baseball Game Preview: Lake Forest Scouts vs. Johnsburg Skyhawks

The Lake Forest Scouts will head out to challenge the Johnsburg Skyhawks at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lake Forest 2.9, Johnsburg 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lake Forest will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Libertyville, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Scouts won by a run and slipped past the Wildcats 7-6.

Lake Forest got a great performance from Callum Morrison as he struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Morrison has posted over his last five games.

On the hitting side, Owen Koehnemann was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Henry Burke was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Johnsburg posted their closest win since March 23rd on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Sandwich a 2-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Skyhawks in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won five in a row.

Lake Forest's record is now 22-5. As for Johnsburg, their record now sits at 17-8.
