Football Recap: Bowie Extends Winning Streak to Six + How To Watch

Bowie extended their winning streak to six on Thursday, bumping them up to 7-2. They walked away with a 45-38 win over the Lamar Vikings. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Volunteers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Vikings are ranked 233rd).

Jayden Bibbs continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 211 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.5% of his passes, and also rushing for 71 yards. Deontae Tennison II was in the mix too, providing Bowie with two TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bowie was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 263 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

As for Lamar, they now have a losing record of 4-5. They have struggled against Bowie recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Lamar lost, don't look at Tayrone Thomas. Despite the final result, he rushed for 204 yards and three scores while picking up 12.8 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Shaw, who threw for 137 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Bowie didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 24-21 victory against South Grand Prairie on the 6th. As for Lamar, they have also already played their next matchup, a 47-8 win against Grand Prairie on the 6th.
