Softball Recap: York Wins Going Away Against St. Paul

York won the last time they faced St. Paul and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Dukes were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Dukes, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Kynlee Westwood spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, York got a massive performance out of Mira Garrett, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Garrett a new career-high. Avery Albers was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

York always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

York has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for St. Paul, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

York does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Paul, they will be taking part in a tournament against Ord at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The Chanticleers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.07 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
