Baseball Recap: Valley Comes Up Short

Valley extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 9-13. They fell 4-1 to the Brush Beetdiggers. The Vikings were not able to make up for their defeat to the Beetdiggers from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.

Seth Kissler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Valley saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alfonso Medina, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.

As for Brush, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

On Brush's side, Edgar Ortiz was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was Ortiz's first of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Valley is set to challenge their familiar foe Platte Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Brush will take on rival Fort Morgan at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
