Recap: Sharpsville Blue Devils vs. Grove City Eagles
If the Sharpsville Blue Devils were riding high off their 61-24 takedown of the Allegheny-Clarion Valley Falcons last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sharpsville fell to Grove City 53-47. While losing is never fun, Sharpsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 471st, while Grove City is ranked 194th).
Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Macie Steiner, who scored 16 points. The matchup was Steiner's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Palko , who scored 12 points.
Sharpsville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Grove City, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Sharpsville will head out on the road to face off against Meadville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meadville comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Grove City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wilmington at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Wilmington is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
