Basketball Recap: Avella Takes a Loss

Avella was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 69-42 loss at the hands of the Clairton Bears. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while the Bears are ranked 180th).

Iyanna Wade continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Clairton, putting up 51 points. The contest was Wade's 46th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was J Childs, who posted eight points.

Avella's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Clairton, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Avella has already played their next match (against Bishop Canevin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Clairton has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Mapletown.
