Minersville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the Panther Valley Panthers. One positive for the Battlin' Miners, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Morgan Orsulak, who went 9 of 18 en route to 21 points in addition to six boards and five assists for Panther Valley. The dominant performance gave Orsulak a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Natalie Vermillion, who posted 12 points along with six assists and three steals.

Minersville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Panther Valley, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

Minersville and Panther Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Minersville will challenge Tamaqua at 7:00 p.m. on Monday down 465 places (608 vs. 143). Meanwhile, Panther Valley (ranked 492nd) will meet Schuylkill Haven (ranked 134th) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
