Baseball Recap: Langston Hughes Takes a Loss

Langston Hughes had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-16 to make it six. They fell just short of the Morrow Mustangs by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered against the Mustangs since April 13, 2021.

Darien Whitfield made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Ladanian Brock, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

As for Morrow, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 24th.

On Morrow's side, Freddie Woods spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Morrow saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Donovan Dixon, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Langston Hughes does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Morrow, they will head out on the road to challenge Jonesboro at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.04 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
