Basketball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Glendale's Winning Streak

After a string of three wins, Glendale's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a hard 58-41 fall against the Williamsburg Blue Pirates. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while the Blue Pirates are ranked 90th).

When it comes to explaining why Glendale lost, don't look at Madison Peterson. Despite the final result, she posted 23 points. The matchup was Peterson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brielle Mcmillen, who earned nine points.

Williamsburg found their leader in sophomore Levada Gorsuch, who went 10 of 16 en route to 22 points and seven rebounds. With that strong performance, Gorsuch is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Leeanna Royer, who put up 12 points and six steals.

Glendale now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Williamsburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Glendale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-29 win against Northern Cambria on the 27th. Williamsburg has also already played their next match, a 65-36 victory against McConnellsburg on the 27th.
