Baseball Recap: Columbia Comes Up Short

Columbia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 20-10 to the South Atlanta Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-10 last Tuesday.

Aiden Hiley was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Damarion Davis was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Columbia's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for South Atlanta, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbia will square off against Salem at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Atlanta, they will take on Miller Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Miller Grove has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.38 runs per game on average), something South Atlanta will no doubt try to take advantage of.
