Last Wednesday, Madera South lost to Torres on the road by a decisive 53-35 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Madera South in their matchups with Torres: they've now lost four in a row.

That was a full 51.4% of Madera South's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Meanwhile, Central Valley Christian came into Friday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Washington Union by a score of 59-47 on Friday. The victory was just what Central Valley Christian needed coming off of a 76-40 loss in their prior game.
Central Valley Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kate Verhoeven led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Verhoeven has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Kamryn Westra was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Madera South has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-17 record this season. As for Central Valley Christian, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-15.
