Baseball Game Preview: Whitewater Wildcats vs. Trinity Christian Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Whitewater Wildcats face off against Trinity Christian Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Whitewater 3.9, Trinity Christian 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Trinity Christian will be up against a hot Whitewater team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Wildcats walked away with an 8-5 win over Fayette County on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Trinity Christian won against Sandy Creek on Friday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Patriots. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

Camden Rodgers looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Tj Ford was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evan Osterman, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Trinity Christian is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Whitewater, their win bumped their record up to 15-7.

Whitewater came out on top in a nail-biter against Trinity Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
