Baseball Game Preview: Riverdale Rams vs. Stark County Rebels

The Riverdale Rams will square off against the Stark County Rebels at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Riverdale has three straight victories, Stark County has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Riverdale's win against Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Spartans 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted since May 1, 2025.

Tyler Nadolson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Landen Peterson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Stark County didn't have quite enough to beat Monmouth-Roseville on Friday and fell 6-5.

Connor Daum was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kaizer Down was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Riverdale's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Stark County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Stark County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Riverdale has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .444.
