Baseball Recap: Early County Has No Trouble Against Randolph-Clay

Early County won the last time they faced Randolph-Clay and things went their way on Tuesday too. Everything went the Early County Bobcats' way against the Randolph-Clay Red Devils as the Early County Bobcats made off with a 20-2 win. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Jimmy Powell made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, Early County got a massive performance out of Evan Grist, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, Grist posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Jacob McKie was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Early County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Early County and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Early County will face off against Randolph-Clay at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Randolph-Clay, they will challenge Baker County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
