Basketball Recap: Tulelake Comes Up Short

Tulelake lost against Trinity back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Tulelake Honkers were beaten by the Trinity Wolves 61-14. The contest marked the Honkers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

They used a three-pronged attack on offense: McKenna Fine, Mareli Hernandez, and Makenzie Perez posted four points each. Perez also led the team in rebounds with four.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Trinity to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elsie Storckman, who posted 13 points along with seven steals and five boards. Storckman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Claire Cox was another key player, going 7 of 9 on her way to 19 points and seven rebounds.

Tulelake moved to 4-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Trinity, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Tulelake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 50-21 defeat against Willows on the 13th. As for Trinity, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 51-48 win against Ferndale on the 13th.
