Basketball Recap: Heritage Christian Comes Up Short

Heritage Christian has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 67-58 to the SkyView Academy Hawks on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 74-50 back in January.

SkyView Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reagan Lewis, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Lewis is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 11 games he's played. Isaac Dove was another key player, going 8-for-14 to rack up 17 points along with eight boards and five assists.

Heritage Christian's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for SkyView Academy, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 18-3.

Coming up, Heritage Christian will head out to take on Bishop Machebeuf at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop Machebeuf knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 games -- so hopefully Heritage Christian likes a good challenge. As for SkyView Academy, they will welcome Lyons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (SkyView Academy has won six straight at home, while Lyons won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
