Baseball Recap: Chester Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against New Athens, Chester was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Sparta Bulldogs by a score of 10-5. This was a revenge game for the Yellowjackets: when they faced off against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, they had to take a 10-3 loss.

Rusty Korando was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trayton Peters, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Chester kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Chester's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Sparta, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 11-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Chester will head out to face off against Valmeyer at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sparta, they will venture away from home to take on Okawville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
