Baseball Recap: Horizon Christian Academy Starts Season with Win Against North Georgia Homeschool

Horizon Christian Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the North Georgia HomeSchool Tribe on Friday as the Horizon Christian Academy Warriors made off with a 16-4 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jacob Lemoine was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bradley Wilson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Austin Jones, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Horizon Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Georgia HomeSchool only posted an OBP of .269.

Horizon Christian Academy has already played their next matchup, a 12-8 win against Cherokee Christian on the 25th. As for North Georgia HomeSchool, they will challenge Holy Spirit Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
