Basketball Recap: Lawndale Drops Season-High Score on Shalhevet

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lawndale). They walked away with a 71-59 win over the Shalhevet Firehawks on Monday.

Lawndale was led to victory by Kalani Pearson and Telayia Fuller. Pearson shot 83% from the field on her way to 24 points in addition to five assists and four steals, while Fuller dropped a double-double with 24 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, Pearson is now averaging an impressive 16.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was Amira Townes, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 14 points.

Lawndale now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Shalhevet, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Lawndale will challenge Eastside at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shalhevet, they will venture away from home to take on Chaminade at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Firehawks will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 59 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
