Preview: Flintridge Prep Wolves vs. South Pasadena Tigers

Flintridge Prep has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the South Pasadena Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.

Flintridge Prep had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 68-61 victory over Calabasas on Thursday. Given Flintridge Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Calabasas is ranked 238th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, South Pasadena had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 50.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They managed a 56-52 victory over Glendora.

South Pasadena's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kayla Boozer, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 rebounds, and Dylan Tse, who scored 22 points. Jamie Rain Kim was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.

Flintridge Prep's victory was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 25-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for South Pasadena, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-4 record this season.

Flintridge Prep didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against South Pasadena in their previous matchup back in April of 2021, but they still walked away with a 48-44 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Flintridge Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
