            Softball Recap: Plattsburg Tigers vs. Stewartsville Cardinals        
        
		
        
        
            After only two  runs in their last  game, Plattsburg made sure to put some  runs up on the board against Stewartsville  on Monday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp  16-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five matchups by six  runs or more  so far this season.

 Penelope Irizarry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out ten batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   four  hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance,  she is now averaging an impressive 5.4  strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with one  double and one  RBI. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in October of 2024.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Lilly Nelson, who  fired off two  home runs, seven  RBI,  and three  runs while going 3-for-4. Those  two  home runs gave  her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Rylan Burnett, who  went a perfect 2-for-2 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and one  stolen base.
 Plattsburg  lost a few balls and  finished the game with two  home runs. That's the most  home runs they've managed all season.
Plattsburg now  has a winning record of 7-6. As for Stewartsville,  they are  on  a  ten-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plattsburg will welcome West Platte  at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Bluejays will roll in looking for their  sixth straight  win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Stewartsville, they will look to defend their home field  on Tuesday against North Andrew  at 5:00  p.m.
