Basketball Recap: Agoura Takes a Loss

Agoura was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against the Newbury Park Panthers, falling 45-20. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 721st, while the Panthers are ranked 260th).

Newbury Park was led to victory by Greta Heath and Skylar Komatsu. Heath went 6 of 11 en route to 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Komatsu posted ten points and seven steals. Komatsu is becoming a predictor of Newbury Park's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is 11-5 (and 3-4 when she doesn't). Neda Karandish was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Agoura now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Newbury Park, their victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-9.

Agoura didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 75-13 defeat against Westlake on the 24th. As for Newbury Park, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 42-36 loss against Oaks Christian on the 24th.
