Softball Game Preview: Chatfield Chargers vs. Bear Creek Bears

The Chatfield Chargers will head out to face off against the Bear Creek Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Chatfield will be strutting in after a victory while Bear Creek will be coming in after a loss.

On Wednesday, Chatfield earned a 5-2 win over Ralston Valley. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won five in a row.

Isabella Leech made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August.

Leech wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Avry Aukland, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Bear Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Columbine, falling 14-1.

Chatfield's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Bear Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 4-18.

Everything went Chatfield's way against Bear Creek when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Chatfield made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
