Basketball Recap: Western Christian Comes Up Short

Western Christian saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell to the Perris Panthers 39-35. The Fighting Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Western Christian lost, don't look at Cece Balderrama. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. Balderrama has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kayden Quiroz, who posted four points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Western Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Western Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Perris, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
