Basketball Recap: Chico Extends Winning Streak to Three

Chico extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Josie Carlos. Everything went the Chico Panthers' way against the Red Bluff Spartans on Tuesday as the Chico Panthers made off with a 61-35 victory thanks in part to Carlos, who went 10 of 16 on her way to 32 points along with eight boards and seven steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Harrison, who posted seven points and five steals. Chico is 7-1 when Harrison posts three or more steals, but 4-5 otherwise.

Chico has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for Red Bluff, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

Chico and Red Bluff could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Chico will take on Pleasant Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 112 places (132 vs. 20). Similarly, Red Bluff (ranked 569th) will meet Foothill (ranked 226th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
