Basketball Recap: Steele Canyon Takes a Loss

Steele Canyon lost against Granite Hills two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Steele Canyon Cougars lost 70-46 to the Granite Hills Eagles. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Granite Hills was led to victory by Jaylene Hughes and Kerstena Tomika. Hughes posted 25 points along with seven steals and six rebounds, while Tomika dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hughes has scored at least a third of Granite Hills' points. Another player making a difference was Jillian Griffith, who scored six points and 11 rebounds.

Steele Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Granite Hills, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Steele Canyon will welcome Grossmont at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th. As for Granite Hills, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 77-44 defeat against Bishop's on the 1st.
