Soccer Recap: Paraclete Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Paraclete was not quite Saint Joseph's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Saint Joseph Jesters by a score of 1-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Spirits in their matchups with the Jesters: they've now lost seven in a row.

Paraclete was without their leading scorer, Viviana Delgado, in Tuesday's matchup. With Delgado sitting this one out, Trinity Manor got some extra time on the pitch (80 vs. her season average of 40).

Paraclete's loss dropped their record down to 13-5-2. As for Saint Joseph, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-1-2 record this season.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Paraclete will head out to challenge Claremont at 5:00 p.m. on February 12th. Claremont's last six contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Saint Joseph, they will face off against Corona del Mar at 5:00 p.m. on February 12th. Saint Joseph's defense has only allowed 0.3 goals per game this season, so Corona del Mar's offense will have their work cut out for them.
