Softball Recap: Windsor Academy's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Windsor Academy dropped to 8-6 on Monday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fullington Academy Trojans. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

Madelyn 'Maddie' Price made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

As for Fullington Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

On Fullington Academy's side, Rayelee Johnson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Johnson a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brooklin Cromer, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. McKinley Causey was another, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Coming up, Windsor Academy will square off against Gatewood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gators have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Fullington Academy, they will challenge Southwest Georgia Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
