Basketball Recap: West Ranch Takes a Loss

West Ranch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 62-16 loss at the hands of the Valencia Vikings. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-4.

Leading Valencia to victory were Cara McKell and Alexis Epie. McKell went 5 for 8 en route to 12 points along with six boards and four steals, while Epie went 5 of 6 on her way to 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. What's more, Epie also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Amelia Carson, who posted four points and ten rebounds.

West Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Valencia, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the West Ranch Wildcats take on the Palmdale Academy Charter School Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Valencia, they will challenge Canyon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Canyon has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 216 points over their last three games.
