Basketball Game Preview: Princeton Eagles vs. Loyalton Grizzlies

Princeton hasn't had much luck against Loyalton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Princeton Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Loyalton Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. Princeton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Princeton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 68-36 victory over Elk Creek.

Meanwhile, everything went Loyalton's way against Paradise Adventist Academy on Tuesday as Loyalton made off with a 58-33 win. The victory continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won seven in a row.

Princeton better keep an eye on Catherine Petterson. She was instrumental in Loyalton's win, putting up 18 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. Petterson's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Ellie Weaver was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Loyalton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Princeton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points over those games. As for Loyalton, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8.

Princeton couldn't quite finish off Loyalton in their previous matchup two weeks ago and fell 51-48. Can Princeton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
