Northwest Rankin entered their tilt with Pearl on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Pirates. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pirates, too.

While Northwest Rankin won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 26-24, 25-19.

Northwest Rankin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Delaney Yarrow, who had 15 assists and five aces. Those 15 assists gave Yarrow a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Lewis, who had five aces and one block.

They weren't the only good server: Northwest Rankin was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive matches.

Northwest Rankin's record now sits at 8-3. As for Pearl, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Northwest Rankin has already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Petal on the 26th. As for Pearl, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Warren Central on the 23rd.
