Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Freire Charter's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

Freire Charter's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 60-47 win over the Academy of the New Church Lions. Given the Dragon's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Lions are ranked 510th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Academy of the New Church's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Teich, who posted 21 points and three steals. The contest was Teich's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was London Lynch, who earned 19 points and six boards.

Freire Charter is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.9 points per game. As for Academy of the New Church, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-14.
