Basketball Game Recap: Highlands Golden Rams vs. Derry Trojans

While Highlands has struggled at home with three straight losses, that wasn't the case on Thursday thanks to Tyarah Woody. The Highlands Golden Rams managed a 50-46 win over the Derry Trojans thanks in part to Woody, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 13 boards. That makes it nine consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Highlands' points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Bonnett, who posted six points and 14 boards. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game.

Highlands' victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-8. As for Derry, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Highlands wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 73-42 loss against North Catholic on the 6th. As for Derry, they will square off against Oakland Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th.
