Baseball Recap: Bloomfield Find Success

Bloomfield took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Montclair Kimberley Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bengals sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over the Cougars on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bengals.

Miles Jimenez made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bloomfield is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-19 otherwise. Jimenez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Colin Schott was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Jayden Morales was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one double.

Bloomfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Bloomfield picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 6-20. As for Montclair Kimberley Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season.

Bloomfield will head out to challenge Newark Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Montclair Kimberley Academy, they will square off against Hawthorne Christian on Tuesday.
