Recap: Chester Volcanoes vs. Maxwell Panthers
The Chester Volcanoes waltzed into their matchup Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They came out on top against Maxwell by a score of 40-29. Given Chester's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Maxwell is ranked 953rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Maxwell lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emma Hendrix. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. The game was Hendrix's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Camila Hernandez, who scored seven points.
Chester's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Maxwell, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Chester and Burney will face off at 4:30 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Burney has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
