Volleyball Recap: Van Alstyne Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Van Alstyne duked it out with Celina on Friday. The Panthers fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

Van Alstyne took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-12, 23-25, 25-22, 16-14.

Leading Celina to victory were Addilyn Paulson and Sonny Hoya. Paulson had 22 digs and four assists, while Hoya had 19 digs. Those 19 digs gave Hoya a new career-high.

Van Alstyne's defeat dropped their record down to 24-12. As for Celina, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-23.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Van Alstyne will square off against rival Gainesville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Celina is set to face off against their familiar foe Sanger at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
