Soccer Recap: Newnan Takes a Loss

If Newnan was riding high fresh off their 6-2 takedown of Lovejoy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Newnan Cougars came up short against the McIntosh Chiefs on Tuesday, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Chiefs are ranked fifth).

Newnan now has a losing record of 4-5. As for McIntosh, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newnan will welcome Banneker at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Newnan has given up an average of 2.7 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. As for McIntosh, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Forest Park at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
