Soccer Game Preview: Independence vs. Mt. Pleasant

The Independence 76ers will head out on the road to square off against the Mt. Pleasant Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Independence's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

While Independence's win against Overfelt wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The 76ers never let the Royals get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant didn't have quite enough to beat Yerba Buena on Wednesday and fell 4-3.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 4-6-1. As for Mt. Pleasant, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8-1.

Independence beat Mt. Pleasant by a goal when the teams last played back in December of 2025, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the 76ers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
