Soccer Game Preview: Piedmont vs. Castro Valley

The Piedmont Highlanders will venture away from home to square off against the Castro Valley Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Friday just wasn't the day for Piedmont's offense. They fell just short of Berkeley by a score of 1-0 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Castro Valley also failed to score in their most recent game. They lost 6-0 to Bishop O'Dowd on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 435th, while the Dragons are ranked 41st).

Piedmont has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7-2 record this season. As for Castro Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6-1.

Piedmont took their victory against Castro Valley in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Piedmont since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
