Basketball Game Preview: Commodore Perry Panthers vs. Youngsville Eagles

The Commodore Perry Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Youngsville Eagles at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Commodore Perry will be strutting in after a victory while Youngsville will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with 24 defeats in a row dating back to last season, Commodore Perry turned things around against Iroquois on Tuesday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 61-22 win over the Braves. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Panthers had established a 30 point advantage.

Commodore Perry found their leader in freshman Bella Saxe, who went 6 of 10 en route to 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Evalyn Furey, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Youngsville had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a blow against Union on Saturday, falling 41-9. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured 11 losses in a row dating back to last season.

Commodore Perry's victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2. As for Youngsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Commodore Perry lost to Youngsville on the road by a decisive 50-36 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Commodore Perry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
