Basketball Recap: Kearney Catholic Gets the Win

Kearney Catholic took a 28-point loss the last time they faced off against Scotus, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Stars had just enough and edged out the Shamrocks 49-47. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Stars.

It was another big night for Danielle Seim, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. She is becoming a predictor of Kearney Catholic's success: when she posts at least eight boards the team is 9-2 (and 2-4 when she doesn't). Kendyl O'Hare was another key player, putting up nine points.

Several Shamrocks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emilyn Kavan, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. Kavan has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Krineke, who posted 14 points.

Kearney Catholic's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Scotus, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.

Kearney Catholic has already played their next contest, a 44-21 loss against St. Cecilia on the 29th. As for Scotus, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Aquinas on Tuesday. The Shamrocks' defense better be ready for this one: the Monarchs have averaged an impressive 52.7 points per game this season.
