Basketball Recap: Pacifica Comes Up Short

Pacifica extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-9. They lost to the Oxnard Yellowjackets at home by a 44-26 margin. The Tritons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Yellowjackets from their previous meeting back in January of 2025.

As for Oxnard, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points over those games.

Oxnard's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Destinee Herrera, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Herrera has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Jenika Becerra was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight boards and three steals.

Pacifica has already played their next matchup, a 61-49 victory against Buena on the 8th. As for Oxnard, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-19 win against Santa Barbara on the 8th.
