Basketball Recap: Martin County Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Martin County had won four straight home games and Katelyn Pire did her part to make it five on Friday. The Martin County Tigers put the hurt on the Palm Beach Gardens Gators with a sharp 65-43 win thanks in part to Pire, who went 10 of 17 on her way to 25 points. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Katelyn Tanis was another key player, putting up six points along with five boards and five steals. Those five steals gave her a new career-high.

Loss or not, Palm Beach Gardens got some senior leadership from Darudine Dejadin and Azariah Marrero. Dejadin posted 11 points and five rebounds, while Marrero scored 13 points. Dejadin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Latasha Whyte, who earned five points and 12 boards.

Martin County's record is now 17-5. As for Palm Beach Gardens, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Martin County will welcome Palm Beach Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Martin County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches. Palm Beach Gardens has already played their next contest (against Seminole Ridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
