Football Game Preview: Strake Jesuit Fighting Crusaders vs. Alief Taylor Lions

Two dominant backs in John Hebert and Hameer Shokunle are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Strake Jesuit Fighting Crusaders will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Alief Taylor Lions at 7:00 p.m. Strake Jesuit knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Alief Taylor likes a good challenge.

Strake Jesuit will bounce into Friday's game after beating Fulshear, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Fighting Crusaders secured a 42-38 W over the Chargers on Thursday. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but the Fighting Crusaders were the better team in the second half.

Strake Jesuit didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Luke Leone and Harrison Socha. Leone is on a roll when it comes to interceptions, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 34 points the game before, Alief Taylor was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 24-6 to Foster. The contest marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Strake Jesuit's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Alief Taylor, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Strake Jesuit took their victory against Alief Taylor in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 54-29 score. Will the Fighting Crusaders repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
