Softball Recap: Kennedy Takes a Loss

Kennedy lost against Mullen back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Commanders fell 16-12 to the Mustangs.

Alexiah Lunas and Izzy Villafuerte did some serious damage despite the final result: Lunas went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Villafuerte went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Lunas is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Aleeyah Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Kennedy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11-1 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Mullen, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Kennedy has already played their next game (against Aurora Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Mullen, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 28-16 win against Englewood on the 6th.
